Other Games

Speaking of games, I’ve played a few other titles that are 100x better than Donut County.

Evoland 2 is an RPG game that’s so hard to define. The graphics pay homage to the game I’ve played in the past 15 years, from 2-bit, 8-bit, Gameboy-like to downright 3D. The main gameplay is action RPG by leading the main character on an adventure, slashing monsters and making friends. In certain segments of the game, the ARPG smoothly transitions into a Final Fantasy-like turn-based strategy game, Mario-like platformer, 2D shooters, runners, and for a while, Guitar Hero. It even has a Game of Card much like the way Witch 3 has Gwent.

In terms of the story plot, the game does a great job tying everything tightly together, with dialogs full of punchlines and references from the gaming pop culture. The game is so addictive with the satisfaction of being part of a large culture group.

Fez is an award-winning platformer where optical misalignment plays a huge part. The game is “enough-said” with all the high scores by critics. It’s 5 years old by now but if you’ve heard the title and never played the game, I encourage you to do so.

ZombsRoyale.io is an I/O game, a down-right 2D implementation of PUBG. The graphics are huggably cartoony, and I find it a lot less stressful when the realistic rendering of a battlefield is taken out. I guess I just unveiled my golden bazooka player self.

The best part of ZombsRoyale is, you can play within Google Chrome on a desktop. It’s amazing.

I also rediscovered Broforce as a great party game both with friends playing face to face or with someone over the internet. It has been the go-to Overwatch detox for a short while.
